NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING

held on 9th February 2009 at Bob Adams' residence

           Present: B.Adams (Chairman), P. Stead (Treasurer), A.Houston (Membership Secretary), John.

  1. John and Andy welcomed
  2. Minutes of last Meeting – reviewed, nothing added.
  3. Minutes of AGM – reviewed
    • Roger Ladbury is working on web site, can we get him to the next meeting?
    • This year’s subs confirmed at £17.
  4. Womens Captain's Report
    • Becky is running at Stafford this Saturday and is running the Nationals
    • Becky also ran at the Midlands
    • There sas a good turnout for the women’s Coundon XC, Not The Roman IX and the New Year’s Day 5
    • Need to get teams organised for the Midlands and Nationals coming up in April
    • Hilly 100 17th May, can we get a ladies team?
  5. Men's Captain's Report
    • We will have a decent team out for the Coundon XC on 14th Feb
    • Hilly 100 - John asked for phone numbers to get teams organised
    • 21st March Orion 15 miler in Epping Forest
    • John asked how many have been entered into the Nationals
    • Summer Handicap on April 1st to start at 7.15pm
  6. Presentation Evening Review

    • Overall the committee was not impressed with the Hotel(leaking roof, room layout etc), should try not to use again, also too expensive
    • Suggested we write a letter of complaint
    • Would be good to have it at the Jag, should try and organise an event at the Jag before the 10k event on 31st May in order to show we are good customers
  7. Social Events – the following events were decided upon:
    • Drinks - Friday 27th February
    • Quiz - Friday 27th March
    • Post-Marathon Meal - Friday 8th May
  8. Northbrook Cross Country – 14th February, Coundon
    • Set-up 10am-12, help required
    • Marshalls required for 2pm
    • Parking – Old Hall (donation required), Waste Lane
    • Awards outside if weather ok, changing rooms if not
    • Can we get a new venue for next year?
    • Float required, Tony to do tea & coffee
    • Tony was congratulated on once again doing a great job
  9. 10k 31st May 2009
    • Marie Curie will be the main charity
    • Scouts will be doing the drinks stations
    • Saddlery will give a donation
    • Results announced? Jag would be quieter, Scout Hut nearer
    • 600 runners is the maximum and with the help of Marie Curie’s extensive mailing list this could be reached. It was agreed to give 25 free places to largest fund raisers
    • Medals will be awarded instead of t-shirts plus goodie bags
    • Sponsorship – Bruker promised £500
    • Nothing from C of C yet
    • Agreed to offer free annual Northbrook membership to best unattached runners
    • Coventry Runner vouchers will be ca £300
    • Brooks Shoes Vouchers will be ca £300
  10. Godiva races in May - Colin Kirkham is giving up organising the Godiva races in May, this could leave opportunities for Northbrook such as Memorial Park.
  11. Summer Handicap - 1st April may be run in reverse
  12. Andy agreed to organise some track sessions over the Summer.
  13. Track & Field Night to be on 17th June
  14. Sunday Sessions for long runs to be arranged once a month.
