NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING

held on 9th November 2009 at Bob Adams' residence

  2. Matters From Last Meeting –
    1. London Marathon Club Places – three places been allocated from the draw. They are Andrew Miles, Paul Stead, Corinna O’Connor. The reserve is Steve Mason.
  3. Treasurers Report – Paul Stead sent full details of the club accounts.
  4. Ladies Captain's Report – Ladies ran in the Abingdon, Snowdon and New York marathons, Birmingham and Coventry half marathons, Lakeland Trails, Flying Fox and Rugby 10 milers. There were no ladies running in the Senneleys Park XC.
  5. Men's Captains Report – The men finished 12th in the first Birmingham XC League Div 2 race at Senneleys Park, but did not complete a ‘B’ team. Men also ran in the Amsterdam and Leicester marathons, Birmingham, Coventry and Great Eastern half marathons, Flying Fox and Rugby 10 milers, and Wedgnock 10K.
  6. Social Secretary Report - The December curry is at Cosmo (5/12/2009), £5 deposits are required, and there is a £2 discount for finishers in the XC earlier that day. Other events are: Earlsdon Xmas drink (tbc), Presentation Night (6/2/2010) at Jaguar. Ticket prices need to be agreed soon. A new trophy could be introduced named after a well known member or sponsor.
  7. Runner of the Month – 2009: Richard Hands (3 PB’s at 5 miles, 10 miles, Half  Marathon).
  8. REVS Radio Equipment Sale – We are purchasing some radio equipment and a trailer, for use in our races, for £1100. This is £100 more than discussed at the special meeting, but is for extra radios. Tony Williams will store the trailer. Bob Adams will discharge/recharge batteries for the radios.
  9. AGM – This is on a Wednesday night, 27/1/2010, 8.30pm at Jaguar. Training runs will start early at 7pm. Proposals and Nominations will be requested before Xmas, and details forwarded to the website.
  10. 10Km Race – Coventry Council require payment for previous years' road closures. Tony French will write to the Council for clarification. The new sub-committee will be formed soon.
  11. Runner of the Month –October 2009: Alix Critchley (16 minute PB in marathon, 3rd Lakeland Trails).
  12. Any Other Business –
    1. Sphinx XC Wyken – We need to supply a disc steward.
    2. Kit Order – Alix Critchley placing a Xmas order for kit including hoodies and sweatshirts.
    3. Training Groups – the structure of different groups was discussed, after  issues were raised by some members. This will be monitored and discussed further, to benefit all members.
    4. Club XC Race – not being arranged, but Sphinx have new race at Coombe Abbey (22/11/2009).
    5. Warks County AGM – at Coventry Godiva on 25/11/2009. We have paid £20 affiliation.
    6. Radio Interview – Mark Baker was interviewed on Coventry & Warwickshire radio about ultra-running, and mentioned Northbrook AC.
