NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING

held on 16th May 2011

  1. Apologies – A. Houston (Membership Secretary), R. Ladbury (Website)
  2. Matters From Last Meeting –
    1. Andy Houston has collected 100 subscriptions.
    2. Second summer handicap had 45 runners.
  3. Treasurer's Report – Paul Stead gave details of the accounts. There has been a 20% subsidy for Northbrook relay teams at the Thunder Run.
  4. Mens/Ladies Captain's Report – Recent events were the Massey 5, May Day 5, Silverstone 10Km, Dudley 10Km, Stratford Marathon and Half Marathon, Hinckley Half Marathon, Leeds Half Marathon, Rugby 6, Northbrook 10Km and Fellsman 61 mile mountain run. Future events are the Sphinx 5, Rowheath 5Km, Hilly 100 relay, London 10Km, Stratford 6.
  5. Social Secretary Report – Free cakes were again available to members after the Summer Handicap. Thanks to Anne Hughes, Alix Critchley and others mentioned last month. Craig has offered to do a free gig at a Summer event. A picnic was organised after the May Day 5 mile race in the Memorial Park. Another picnic could be arranged at a Park Run on 4th June. A post marathon meal is planned for 27th May at Zorbaz Greek restaurant in Coventry.
  6. 10Km Race – The10Km race was held on 15th May 2011 with approximately 300 runners, and 50 children fun runners. Thanks to the race sub-committee for all their hard work, and thanks to all the marshals and helpers on the day.
  7. 5Km Race - The 5Km is proposed for 10th July 2011.
  8. Coaching/Training - Clive Horton has refunded the club a cheque for a 3 day coaching course due to other commitments, but Clive will be interested in the course next year.  Coach’s corner is appearing on website. Clive is meeting group leaders every few months. Clive is discussing various coaching ideas and seminars with Dave Dix..
  9. Runner of the Month – April: Pete Fellows (3rd in Coventry way 40 miles), Ladies winning team at the Regency 10Km race (Alix Critchley, Amanda Deavy, Cath Fenn).
  10. Any Other Business –
    1. Kit – Bob Adams has a large stock of club vests and hats to be advertised.
    2. Hilly 100 – A men's and mixed team have been entered. Bob Adams will be captain.
    3. New Members Pack – Andy Houston will look at ideas, and could include a club vest.
    4. Future Club Events – new dates are Wed 22nd June – Track Olympics, Wed 13th July – Race the Train, Wed 27th July – Good, Bad & Ugly relay.
    5. Membership Cards – Roger Ladbury created a prototype card design, and asked for unique membership numbers to be assigned which stay the same each year.
    6. London Marathon – we will apply for club places soon when membership details are logged with England Athletics.
    7. Track Training – John Wilson will investigate suitable days for training sessions.
    8. Road Race Championships – Paul Stead will create a half year list soon.
    9. Stopwatches – the committee discussed options for new watches with multi-functions.
    10. Sphinx Handicap – any interested runners are invited as guests to future events.
  11. Next Meeting – Monday 20 June 2011, 8pm, at John Wilson's residence.
