NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING

held on 9th January 2012

  1. Apologies – None
  2. Matters From Last Meeting –
    1. Membership - this is now over 120 paid members
    2. Kit – Alix Critchley can order new kit in January.
  3. Treasurer's Report – Paul Stead circulated details. A proposal to increase subscriptions to £20 from £17 will be put to AGM (concessions from £10 to £12). Paul needs a stocktake of club vests from Bob Adams.
  4. Mens/Ladies Captain's Report – Recent race results are on the website. Amanda Deavy was 2nd senior lady in the Warwickshire XC Champs at Solihull; Becky Smith was 3rd masters lady. Amanda and Becky will run for Warwickshire in the Inter-Counties XC. The senior ladies team (Amanda Deavy, Alix Critchley, Clare Rowntree) won bronze at the Warwickshire XC Champs as well. Mike Wheeler was the winner in a recent Coventry Park Run. Many runners competed in the Godiva New year 5 miles race; James Joyce ran 30.02, a PB by 2 minutes. Amanda Deavy ran a PB as well; also the ladies won the team prize. There have also been recent PB’s for Kevin Coughlan and Chris Jones. Mark Baker was 3rd at the Enigma Winter Trail Marathon. Other good turnouts were at the Bedford and Keyworth half marathons and the Sneyd 10 miles. Thanks to Tony Mackness for organising the Xmas Cracker run and mince pies. Thanks to Corinna O’Connor and Sarah McNaney for organising the Xmas Training Night run and post run activities. The next club event is the ladies and mens XC league races at Dudley.
  5. Social Secretary Report – The Awards Party on 21/1/2012 is at Jaguar. Corinna has checked food prices. Andy Houston has booked the DJ. Tickets are £10. There is an Olympic  gold/silver/bronze theme. The committee discussed the road race prize categories. Bob Awcock has trophies from last year’s winners. Thanks to Corinna for organising the post Bedford half marathon meal.
  6. 10Km Race – A date is 15/7/2012. The race will be part of the Warwicksire Counties series and the Warks Road Race League.. Sponsorship is being considered, as well as charity donations.
  7. Runner of the Month – December 2011: Tony Bowe (excellent long distance runs).
  8. Any Other Business –
    1. AGM date – this is booked at Jaguar for Wed 25/1/2012 after training. Proposals are available for viewing on the club website.
    2. Voted Awards – Mark Baker has circulated voting slips for Clubperson of the Year and Most Improved Runner with a suggested shortlist, but voting is not restricted to this.
    3. Marathon Training – Clive Horton has organised 9am Sunday training runs from Jaguar. Full details are on the club website.
    4. Road Race Champs – the prize categories were agreed. There are overall male and female winners, then another top 3 in each age category.
    5. New Coventry 10km run – Allan Walsh has details of this race in March 2012.
    6. Thunder Run 2012 – we will again subsidise team entries which are now due.
  9. Next Meeting – AGM on Wednesday 25th January 2012, 8.30pm, at Jaguar Sports & Social Club, Browns Lane. First new committee meeting -  Monday 6th February 2012, 8pm, at Bob Adams’ residence.
