NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING

held on 6th January 2014

  2. Matters From Last Meeting – None
  3. Treasurers Report – Amanda Deavy circulated details of recent accounts. Amanda will ask the bank for details of online accounts.
  4. Mens/Ladies Captain's Report – The Christmas Cracker Run had the biggest turnout ever with 35 runners. Thanks to Tony Mackness for the organisation. Recent race results are on the website. Several runners took part in the men's league cross country races at Burbage on 7/12/2013. The men in division 2 were 18th on the day, but are 15th overall. The ladies ran in the Midland league cross country race at Wolverhampton. The men and ladies ran in the Warwickshire cross country races at Halesowen, and Amanda Deavy was selected for the Warwickshire Inter-Counties team. Thanks to Paul Stead for compiling the results of the club road race league..
  5. Social Secretary Report – Thanks to Corinna O’Connor for organising the Christmas meal at Blue restaurant. The Awards Presentation Night has a Black and White theme on 18/1/2014. Tickets are available at £15.
  6. 10k Race - The sub-committee has held its first meeting.
  7. AGM – Jaguar function room is booked for Wednesday 22/1/2014 after training. Proposals will be publicised in advance. Committee nominations can be raised to a current committee member. Training will begin at 7pm for an 8.30pm AGM start.
  8. Coundon Park Cross Country Race – The club will host the final Birmingham League race on Saturday 8/2/2014. The usual race organiser, Tony French, will be unavailable, so Bob Adams will co-ordinate the race organisation with help from the committee. Corinna O’Connor will recruit marshals to help on the day.
  9. Runner of Month November: Damian Pharoah (excellent results).
  10. Any Other Business –
    1. Kit supplies – Chris Jones has passed on hoodies and other kit to members.
    2. First Aid – John Wilson suggested that training leaders should learn basic first aid. Also a suggestion was raised that a health disclaimer should be added to membership forms and signed by members.
    3. Park Run Focus – Next event focus is Saturday 1/2/2014.
    4. Voted Awards – Mark Baker has contacted members with details. A shortlist was agreed for clubperson of the year and most improved runner.
    5. Training – Extra training is being organised by Clive Horton (Sundays) and Lyn McDonald (Mondays).
    6. Masseys Quiz – Sat 11/1/2014.
    7. Coventry Half Marathon – there is a new course on 23/3/2014.
  11. Next Meeting – AGM, Wednesday 22nd January 2014, 8.30pm at Jaguar, Browns Lane. Next committee meeting provisionally on Monday 3rd February 2014 at 8pm at Bob Adams’ residence.
