NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING

  1. Apologies – A. French, (President), C. O'Connor (Social Secretary), S. Davies (Men's Captain).
  2. Matters Arising – we have 161 paid-up members. Resignations were received from John Wilson and Lyn McDonald.
  3. Treasurer's Report – Tony Mackness discussed details of the accounts. Full details of the 10Km race accounts will be available soon, but there will be significant funds raised for Myton Hospice, Scouts, Great Ormond Street and Allesley Festival.
  4. Awards Review – The first long service certificates have not been awarded yet. Mark Dalton has start dates. Roger Ladbury will create a website gallery.
  5. Social Secretary Report – Thanks to the cake bakers at the Summer handicaps. There was a long discussion about the Presentation Night, and the club agreed to try something different this time. Clare Rowntree will try to book the Village Hotel near Hearsall Common for Saturday 28th January 2017.
  6. Mens/Ladies Captain's Report – Many excellent results are on the club website. The Warks Road League continued with the new BRAT 5Km race. The Thunder Run relay was a success with good results for the teams. Runners are needed for the Sutton Park relays in September.
  7. 10Km race – Many thanks to all of the 10Km sub-committee for all their work through the year. Roger Ladbury stated that the 10Km sub-committee needed some extra help to continue the race in future, as there is a lot to organise. Tony French in particular, does a lot of vital tasks. If there are no volunteers, it will be difficult to continue the event. Also, the club needs to look again at runners on the day who do not provide a substitute marshal or helper.
  8. Club kit – Some members had again asked if we could get club t-shirts, with the sunburst design, to wear in some races (where allowed) instead of vests. It was agreed to see demand in the club for this, so Damian Pharoah will look into a provisional order (5 per size), then get orders and payment from members.
  9. Jaguar Club – A sub-group of the club are continuing discussions with Jaguar about our membership role and access to facilities.
  10. Runner of the Month – July 2016 winners – Men: Steve Turvey – good runs at 10Km and Thunder Run. Ladies: Jo Arden – good running and commitment to WRRL
  11. Any other business –
    1. Summer handicap – the fifth race was well attended by around 60 runners. Thanks to the handicapper and all the helpers.
    2. Northbrook Track Event – Bob Adams has booked the track for 17th August
    3. Gazebo – Ladies need to purchase one of these.
    4. Birmingham League – the League organisers asked about the venue we will use (with Masseys) for the final race in February 2017. Coundon Park was the likely venue.
  12. Next Meeting – Monday 19th September 2016 at 8pm at Clare Rowntree's residence.
