Prestwold 10k - 28 June
John Elliott | 40:04 | PB | |
Stephen Mason | 42:15 | PB |
Report: Steve Mason
Having only ever run the Northbrook and Two Castles 10k's, we thought we
would try a flat one, and this didn't disappoint. Run around a disused airfield,
with a brief section on road through the local village, it wasn't the most
scenic or inspiring of runs but, if you fancy a head -down, fast blast assault
on your PB, then you would probably struggle to find a better one.
Conditions were near perfect with no wind, although it was quite hot, but
unfortunatley for some reason I didn't get any where near my anticipated
time. John faired much better, missing out by 4 seconds (as it wasn't chipped,
the walk over the line would account for that - unlucky John!) knocking 2
minutes off his best time.
Altogether a very well organised event, only 40 minutes down the road, with parking, registration, start and finish all within 50 yards of each other. Maybe a few more Northbrook entrants next year?

St Michael Stone 10k - 21 June
37 | Rebecca Smith | 38:02 | PB, 4th lady |
Perfect weather for running and a quick course (it felt like there was more downhill than up). I have finally broken my 40 minute 10k gremlin with a massive pb so I'm really pleased. Just a shame it wasn't 3 seconds faster.
Llanelli 10k - 21 June
9 | Stuart Keen | 36:54 |
467 | Diane Keen | 56:45 |
It's been 3 years since we were at the Llanelli 10k, so couldn't wait to
get back as it's a fabulous race held along the seafront of Llanelli (in
Wales) on the Millenium Coastal Path, and is 'flat' by welsh standards with
such a great atmosphere.
As with most sea-front races the only real problem can be a sea breeze to
slow you down, but today the conditions for this race were just about spot-on
so we gave it our best & were rewarded with a couple of decent times.
Recent training on my part paid off with a very agreeable time of 36.54 finishing
in 9th place out of over 700, but Diane ran her little socks off to get herself
a PB time of 56.45 (10secs faster than her previous PB) which was about 16
minutes faster than when she last run the Llanelli 10k in 2005!
It was a great morning's running which was made all the more enjoyable by watching our 5 year old nephew running in the under 7's fun run first thing!
Wedgnock Summer Series Race 2 - 18 June
32 | John Wilson | 44:08 |
For the 2nd and 4th races of the series the course is reversed; this clearly made it 30 seconds slower! Better weather and no mud however should have meant a quicker time than Race 1 but not to be. The drop in places was related to more entrants than my slower time. Need to think of another excuse for race 3 though so any ideas would be welcome.

4 x 400m relay - Cath Fenn/Andy Ralph/Richard Hodge/Stuart Found - 4m 52s
Just a few days after Midsummer, and another cold, wet night might have dampened the Warwick University track but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of those who turned out for a Club evening with a difference.
Bob Adams' varied programme of events meant some activity was in progress throughout the evening, with some latent talent become evident leading to a few surprising performances.
Alix Critchley was declared Athlete of the Night, with wins in five events.

Ironman 70.3 Triathlon - 14 June
Paul Costain | 7h 47m |
A 1.2 mile open water swim in Wimbleball Lake, Exmoor, followed by a 56 mile bike ride (toughest bike section in any Ironman 70.3 in the world; I will never complain about hills again) and a 13 mile run. I had to meet strict cut-off times by finishing the swim within 1 hour of the race start, and finishing the bike part within 5½ hours of the race start.

Report: Alix Critchley
One very hot day, bit of a dodgily organised start down a narrow lane, but a great course with some nice undulates, and a little tiny bit of off-road past some slightly annoyed fishermen - one of who tried to put their fishing stool in the middle of the path to turn it into a steeplechase! And then of course there's the nice updulate at the end! Thanks to Sarah for her support part way round the course - much appreciated!
Rowheath 5k Race 1 - 11 June
43 | Rebecca Smith | 18:59 |
For anybody planning on doing the second race of the series, the start has been moved back around 150m which I think added around 30s or so to my time.
