Apparently it was minus nine degrees before the start!

Also of note, there was a late bid from Paul Stead for the club's annual 'Animal' award. He ran 20 miles from home in sub-zero temperatures before racing eight miles cross country! - Howard

Suicide Six- 21 November

  Allan Walsh   53:26

An off-road run that is muddy, slippy, hilly and treacherous - in a word brilliant! Obstacles to negotiate include steps and a stream as well as a good deal of mud. Despite its name I survived it, and found it very enjoyable. Venue was Baggeridge Country Park, Sedgley, Dudley. No water to drink but well organised, I'd recommend it - Allan

On setting off for the relays, there was quite a lot of debate in the car about driving such a long way for such a short run, especially when we found there was going to be no men's team there. However, after the event we all agreed that it had been well worth it and thoroughly enjoyed by all! We were ably supported by Jude, Corinna's littlest, and the 1.8 mile course was a good one - some lovely runnable grass and wooded sections to start, nicely undulating, and then a bit of a draggy end to the loop. A really great atmosphere, and the hot choccie on the way back made it even more worth while! A much enjoyed trip - Alix

Pembrokeshire Coast Challenge - 4 to 6 November

  Dave Fawkner
  Day 1 5h 11m 18th
  Day 2 5h 52m 20th
  Day 3 5h 17m 3rd
  Overall 16h 20m 10th

The Pembrokeshire coastline is stunning, and I was lucky enough to run 78.6 miles of it over 3 days. My first day was typical of the weather to be expected in Wales, with it raining pretty much from start to finish. This made conditions very difficult as a lot of the course was muddy coastal path. I quickly learned to fall to my right as there was often a drop to my left, but thankfully I fell only a few times. This was my most difficult run ever, so I was relieved to make it to the finish to get some warm clothes.

Day 2 had much better weather, but progress was much slower due to a knee injury from day 1. A massage, ice pack, medication and a glass of red wine that evening helped numb the pain, and I woke the next day feeling great! :o) With the new leg feeling and good weather on the last day, I decided to give it my all and somehow found myself in 3rd place after 6 miles! Lol The excitement of staying in 3rd drove me on for the next 20 miles, and luckily I managed to get to the finish with 2 or 3 seconds to spare.

Once I recovered or could at least move again, I ran into the sea to celebrate the end of a great weekend of running. A fantastic event that was well organised, so I'll definitely look at entering again - Dave
