This year saw a record entry with 66 runners taking part. There was a bit of panic an hour before the race, when I saw lots of roadworks signs and lorries on the finish straight. Fortunately, they all left just before the start, but the rough road surface was an extra challenge for the runners. I set up some direction arrows on all the turns, but one of these was removed before leg 1 and, unfortunately, Mike Payne from Coventry Triathletes missed the turn into Washbrook Lane and added around 10 minutes to his time.

Linda Richards started leg 1, three minutes ahead of the next starters. The Sphinx teams started last, but Ashley Miles ran a fantastic leg to get back first, ahead of Claudie Combelas and Clive Horton. There was keen racing and tactics on a hot night, as leg 2 unfolded. Clare Weir was first back, ahead of Gemma Ross and Craig McNaney.

In a close finish on the final leg, the winning team was led home by Trevor Knight, just ahead of Wayne Broadbent from Sphinx, and Scott Shepherd. Bottles of wine were presented to the winners, and boxes of chocolates and chocolate sweets to the first and second runners-up - Mark Baker
