Perfect running conditions for the 3rd in this winter series over at Ilmington, a bit damp but quite warm. Consequently there appeared to be a good field of runners. However, it soon became apparent that most people were suffering from various ailments so we got our excuses in early - bad colds, feeling ill, sleepless nights due to noisy children, hangover, too many mince pies - and headed for the start line. I think we all just wanted to start and finish so with no agenda in place the whistle was blown and off we went in a very steep upward direction and ticked off the km's as we went.  So good to see Rich Cawley (our support crew for the morning) on the other side of the hill cheering us all on and taking pictures 'Corinna' style !
Great efforts put in by all Northbrookers and some suprisingly good times, including a course PB by 3 minutes for Mark, considering all the earlier excuses!! - Sarah

26 degrees of heat so a PB was never on the cards.  Mark and Craig decided to run and enjoy the atmosphere of a well organised event before returning back to the cold and rain in England.  Mark was chuffed to complete the event having recently recovered from a twisted ankle, whilst Craig treated it as a very pleasant training run alongside the beautiful sea-shore.

Winter Run to the Castle Ultra - 12 December

12 Amy Burdis   9:48:47 1st lady
16 Tara Lambert   11:08:54 3rd lady

A 42 (but more like 44 with navigational issues) mile ultra run taking runners from the coastal village of Aberdyfi up the beautiful coastal path, along the seafront at Tywyn, through the village of Fairbourne and the famous Fairborne bridge, into Barmouth, then to the castle town of Harlech. A brilliant result for Tara as it was her first ultra. Katy Jones was queen of checkpoint four, volunteer and Christmas cake baker extraordinaire.

The second race in the series saw 6 Northbrookers head over to Chelmsley Wood. Conditions were better than expected with the headwind being non existent. Tired cross country legs for two of us from the previous day's adventures counted for nothing as good performances were put in all round - Spencer
