Only 26 degrees at this point with a light breeze and fantastic view across
the Vale of Evesham from the changeover near Snowshill. However, within 10
minutes of starting this 'easy' leg it was going horribly wrong. Having
dropped into the valley and lost the breeze and any shade it quickly became
a survival exercise and any thoughts of a reasonable time blown away. The
next 45 minutes or so will the subject of recurring nightmares, a mixture of
running, jogging, and even walking. Yes, I walked and I don't mind admitting
it! The thought of the remaining six guys waiting did spur me on, as did the
constant attention of Howard and Bob with water bottles. Thanks, lads.
The sight of Paul on the start line for leg 4 was more than welcome, although I had to warn him not start running until I reached him!
Next year?... Check the forecast first!
